Are bird houses really necessary when you have a forest surrounding your lodge or cabin that is habitat to a wide variety of birds?
We'd never been very interested in birds before purchasing our land but that changed pretty quickly! And we discovered that, although birds nest happily in the surrounding forest, they are really hard to see! By placing a number of bird houses strategically around your property you will have a much better chance of observing the antics and behavior of nesting birds. There is something truly amazing about watching the new hatchlings venturing out for the first time.
You can build your own - a fun family project, or you can take advantage of the wide variety of ready-made houses available.
We've compiled a collection of birdhouses, bird feeders, binoculars, and birding books to help you enjoy the birds at your lodge or cabin. Enjoy!
