Whether it's a cabin, farmhouse, or in the city, braided rugs figure in the history and the stories of many families.
"Braided rugs take me back to my childhood and visiting my grandmother in her old country house!"
Years ago, when my husband and I were starting out, we saved our pennies and went downtown to buy ourselves a rug. Although we lived in the city at the time, there was a little country in us even then! We took our new rug home on the subway and hauled it up the stairs to our 3rd floor walk-up apartment.
That braided rug lasted through many years, pets, and children. That's one of the great things about these rugs. You can expect years and years of beauty and enjoyment from them.
Vacuum regularly. Do not shake or beat your rug since this could damage it. Clean spills immediately by blotting with a cloth or sponge. If your rug is in a high traffic area or where it gets a lot of spills (under a table), periodic steam cleaning is recommended. Check for colorfastness before steam cleaning Using a damp cloth, blot an area of the rug. If any dye comes off on the cloth, the dyes may run during cleaning.
Reverse and rotate your rugs routinely. This will prolong the life of the rug by evenly distributing the traffic to both sides and avoid wear associated with traffic patterns.
