A fireplace is a natural focal point for friendly gatherings. Cool evenings cry out for the warm glow of a fire to heat the room and the hearts of those fortunate enough to enjoy it!
Fireplaces come in a huge variety of shapes, sizes, and materials. Many log or rustic homes feature magnificent stone work, while others have cast iron and Franklin wood stoves. Some wood stoves have closed steel boxes, others have glass panels so the visual aspects of the fire can be enjoyed.
As the cost of heating fuel increases, fire is becoming a common supplement and in some cases, the sole source of heat... especially in northern climates!
If you're fortunate enough to have a wooded lot (we have 12 acres of forest) you can access an endless supply of fuel. In our case we are felling dead trees before they fall and have cleared some trees that were too close to our lodge. These all become firewood.
