Capturing the exquisite beauty of life in the country

I've been a photo nut pretty much all my life. I come by it naturally... My grandmother had a 35mm camera and took thousands of photos, all Kodachrome slides, on her extensive worldwide travels... my dad picked up the habit, becoming both an avid still photographer and also an early adopter of 8mm movies, shooting hundreds of hours of family events, camping trips, birthday parties and so on.

I even studied photography for a time, although I never pursued it professionally.

I now split my time between shooting with a Nikon D70 and my new toy, a Canon Vixia HF100 HD camcorder. It's a nice piece of equipment that also takes excellent still shots.

As submissions come in to this part of the website, we'll gradually expand the pages by creating categories to post the photos to.

So send in those shots, telling us a little bit about them!

White Mountains  This is the view we get every day during the winter from our house in Washington. It's always neat to wake up to nature.
