The Porch Swing... it's classic and absolutely necessary!

Why is this so important? Maybe it's an emotional response to memories of my family's country home, but a comfortable swing is the perfect place to curl up and read a book to yourself or to a child. It's a great place to sit and chat on a hot summer afternoon, with a cold drink in hand. It's also an ideal central element in your outdoor seating arrangement. If you have the space, a small coffee table and/or a couple of side tables, surrounded by other comfortable chairs, including a glider, creates an inviting space to gather for late afternoon "happy hour", or after dinner coffee or drinks while watching the setting sun.

Our swing is on what we call the "west wing" of our deck, facing the valley. We often gather there for informal lunches and in the late afternoon for great discussions about just about everything!
