Well-placed rustic coffee tables can really pull a conversation area together, providing the perfect place for visiting with friends or loved ones.
It's a spot for your coffee or tea while you read, relax, or enjoy the fire. Or for drinks and nibblies at a party or gathering. It can be a place for small hands to play a game, or a surface to display vases full of wild flowers. In some cabins, rustic coffee tables may even be used as a place to simply put your feet up and kick back.
The options are almost endless... see the collection below
An old chest or trunk can serve as a coffee table (and offer extra storage space). I have my father's WWII army trunk in our lodge living room.
How about an old door for a unique table? Friends of ours used an old low bench as a coffee table.
You might find a flea market treasure or a family hand-me-down and give it a new life. If it's painted, you will likely want to strip the paint. Don't worry if the wood has nicks and scratches. Distressed wood shows character and history - and suits the lodge lifestyle.
You can choose log rustic coffee tables - from more "formal" to extremely basic - I saw one cabin that had a simple length of log, cut in half and highly sanded and varnished, supported by simple block legs at each end.

If you have access to the wood and a workshop, you can DIY. My husband made a cross-grain log table (from a very large fir tree) with birch legs. He also made a cedar plank table with birch legs (pictured right).
You can go for plank and twig combinations or burled wood with root legs. I've seen a large wood tray mounted on sturdy twig legs that made a great coffee table.
You might also consider wicker - either a wicker table, or perhaps a wicker stool that stands in as a rustic coffee table - but can be used as extra seating if required.
Antler tables are also available.
